At present, JSI—Journal of Spectral Imaging is not listed in the Science Citation Index Expanded and so does not have an Impact Factor. We are working very hard to get JSI listed, since we understand how important publishing in a journal with an Impact Factor is for many authors. Publishing your paper in JSI will help us achieve this goal sooner.

Of course, Impact Factor is not the only basis/reason for publishing in a particular journal and we believe that there are many reasons why you should publish in JSI.

Visibility

JSI is indexed in major databases, including Scopus, Google Scholar, CNKI Scholar, CrossRef, Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Dimensions, Norwegian Register for Scientific Journals, Series and Publishers (NSD) and Portico.

Social media. We use social media to promote all papers in JSI, and our tweets about papers produce high levels of engagement on Twitter.

Altmetrics or alternative metrics. Nowadays, there are more ways to promote a paper and indeed more ways to measure the impact of a paper than ever before. Altmetrics produces a score of a paper’s “alternative metrics”: built from the online activity around a paper. Each JSI paper displays its Altmetrics score, with an excellent average of 4.75 for 2017 at the time of writing.

Downloads. 2017 JSI papers have had an average of 725 PDF downloads at the time of writing. See the Most Downloaded page for up-to-date information.

Positive publishing experience

From the review stage through to final publication of your paper, we aim to make the publishing process as easy and pleasant as possible.

Our experienced editors have global reputations and will ensure that your paper is assessed fairly and thoroughly to a high standard. They work with the referees to provide constructive feedback, which is greatly appreciated by authors. JSI is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and we take our responsibilities to authors and the wider scientific community very seriously.

Our modern responsive website works well on all devices, with full-text of papers in PDF and HTML. XML of papers is available for authors who wish to submit this to institutional or other repositories.

When authors have ORCID iDs, we encourage them to provide them; your name in the list of authors is then linked to your ORCID profile. Further, through our membership of CrossRef, your JSI paper will be automatically linked to your ORCID profile (subject, of course, to any privacy settings you may have chosen on ORCID).

Quality publication

We have been producing high-quality scientific publications for over 35 years. As a small, independent company, we provide a truly personal service to authors.

We are members of a number of organisations that help ensure the quality of our publications is maintained.

The Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guides us in developing standards and processes to ensure that our refereeing, editing and publication processes meet the highest ethical standards.

CrossCheck enables us to check all submissions for potential plagiarism and we contribute our publications to the iThenticate database to help support this work.

The Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) has checked that JSI meets their high standards for Open Access journals and is fully indexed in their platform.

Portico ensures that all JSI papers are archived and preserved for the future.
